Tuesday, March 04, 2008 ![]() well besides the usual lectures and hanging out with my ever fun loving and top scoring OG i had an odac selection camp... was it fun? the only thing i can use to describe it is that its like a boys brigade camp, but much MUCH more fun, and much more adventureous (forgive me my GP tutors for having such lousy spelling). though equally as tiring. but still, not muck kick as they have to cater to the girls, so the punishment is not as tough. and dude we even had catered food. guess experience really does make up sometimes. so the first thing we were thrown into was this routine where we had to do as many sets of exercises to earn odac cash to use during the camp. they include stair running, round the track jogging, sit ups, jumping jacks and other stuff. our group did many jumping jacks as they were the least tiring and the fastest. we laugh while watching the other groups jog round the track lol. then had to make sone rice by cooking it in a mass tin. sice i already did it many times b4 it was rather easy while looking at the other groups who did not know wad the toothpaste was for. well the odac cash was mostly used in fines when we forgot something or lost something or never tuck in shirt. yea our hard earned cash down the drain. so after that we had to embark on a long journey to pasiris park where we had to set up out camp. along the way there were road blocks (the whole camp was in amazing race style) and though we were the last to leave the first check point, we breezed though the road blocks. one involved us rumaging through a thick batch of trees and vegetation in the darkness of the night without a torch to look for the rations we bought. wa got pricked like siao. but me together with 4 other ppl found it in the end. the long long walk was rather nice, but the best of all was the solo night walk. u have to walk alone through a forest in singapore in the middle of the night by yourself without any torch, just a few light sticks along the way to guide u to the exit. you can hear all the things in the jungle making noises and i once could hear a really big cricket in front of me but i could not see anything. i tried to run through but tripped over a vine. ouch. rerached the campsite third but took very very long to set up the tent as they gave us a broken one but insisted that everything was ok. they like to 'tekan' us in this camp sial. they even steal ur camp equipment and then fine u odac dollars for it. GAH. the next day began walking again, this time to the changi port to take boat to pulau ubin to cycle expedition. haha had many fun games there, and cycling really made my day. also had rafting later, but the raft my team built cant go in the water sial. keep breaking. well, gave a rather breif summary of the camp, but came out making many new friends, learning new things, testing my stamina again and again. i dont really mind if i dont get selected for odac, though i really want to join. it was a nice experience. pls let this road im walking down bring me to the right place... |
